2016 Tunnelling Association of Canada Award Recipients
We are pleased to recognize Dr. Ray Benson as the 2016 recipient of TAC's Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to his lifetime of exemplary contributions to tunnelling engineering in Canada, Dr. Benson served as TAC President from 1984 to 1989.

Other 2016 TAC Achievement Award winners include:

  • Innovation Project of the Year – Port Mann Water Supply Tunnel;
  • Infrastructure Project of the Year – La Romaine 3 Headrace Tunnel Excavation & Related Works;
  • TAC Lifetime Service Award – Rick Staples; and
  • Photo of the Year – John Hart Generating Station Replacement Project.

2016 Dan Eisenstein Memorial Scholarship
TAC is pleased to announce that Sarah Cain is the 2016 recipient of the Dan Eisenstein Memorial Scholarship. A 2015 BScE graduate of Queen's University in Geological Engineering, Ms. Cain is currently completing the first year of her Master's program working with Dr. Mark Diederichs at Queen's University. Sarah's graduate research includes examining the geometric effects on and stress sensitivity with respect to wall damage impacting deep tunnels for nuclear waste storage Congratulations Sarah!

TAC Publication - Canadian Tunnelling Memories and Achievements - Requires Your Pictures and Donations
The Tunnelling Association of Canada is excited to announce that we will be publishing a unique hardcover "Coffee Table" style book this year to highlight the many tunnelling memories and achievements in Canada to date. Member support in the form of picture contributions as well as financial donations are vital to the success of this long-awaited endeavor.
