TACym Learning Series - Precast Concrete Tunnel Lining (PCTL)
The TAC Young Member’s Committee is excited to announce the return of the educational series for our members. Focused on introductory topics, the webinar series will strive to teach basic tunnelling themes not often taught in school but beneficial to those working in the industry. If you’re a student, just starting your career, or someone who likes to continually learn, then you’ll be sure to pick-up something new.

Abstract:

Our next topic will be the Precast Concrete Tunnel Lining (PCTL). Learn the parts of a segmental ring, their benefits over other lining types and how they are created. Typical loads, how engineers commonly design segments are discussed and reinforcement options are highlighted.

Speaker Bio:

Michael Dutton, P.Eng works with Arup Canada as a Senior Tunnel Engineer in their Toronto Office. He received a Masters in Structural Engineering from Queen's University, Kingston Ontario, in 2012 before joining the Underground Infrastructure team at Hatch (formerly Hatch Mott MacDonald) in Mississauga. During his 10 years in the industry, Michael has gained a wide range of engineering design experience related to underground construction in a variety of ground conditions. On the job learning taught him the ins and outs of ground structure interaction and advance constitutive models. Project highlights include the Great Lakes Tunnel Project, Scarborough Subway Extension, and the BART Silicon Valley CP2.
